I didn't understand all the complex metaphors and symbols but I found it a thought-provoking and masterfully composed visual experience.

Alien adventure that will distract the kids for a little while. Make sure you don't sit down with them as it's very childish and effortless.

The action sequences are decent but the script is a big mess. This violent and gory adaptation of the classic tale is simply terrible.

MUD (2013)

McConaughey has just gotten even better, he's absolutely mesmerising. Nichols' new Souther drama is a slow-burner but ultimately rewarding.

STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS (2013)

It isn't as good as the first one but pretty close. Visually amazing, action-packed and it just never slows down! Sci-fi at full blast.

It might not offer solutions for food insecurity in the U.S. but it's very good at presenting a problem with shocking figures and stories.

I'M SO EXCITED! (2013)

Almodóvar let us down! Pointless comedy with nothing more than burned out jokes about blow jobs and the subtitles are outrageously rubbish!

I think it would work much better on stage than screen. Apart from the patronising narration it's a light-hearted and innocent drama/comedy.

Not once I laughed or smiled while watching it. Even if I was 21 I would find the college version of The Hangover obnoxious and tired.

QUARTET (2013)

It's supposed to be a feel good movie but I found it very slow and boring. The similar The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is a much better pick.

Not the greatest but its visual style and creepy soundtrack make this slasher film a gruesome, atmospheric and suspenseful horror.

I really liked The Notebook, I think it was quite romantic. This one is boring and utterly unoriginal with the most ridiculous twist ever.

It's a decent start of the blockbuster season however next to Avengers it is just an enjoyable superhero movie, nothing more.

THE LORDS OF SALEM (2012)

I admire Zombie's enthusiasm, he clearly has good ideas, but this old-school flick is a bit trashy. Might work at a boring Halloween party.

This peculiar black comedy, based on true events,  is an entertaining mixture of documentary and fiction about the most loveable murderer.
